Sponsored by Northrop Grumman
General
The Jack Northrop Award was established in 1976 to recognize the most outstanding technical presentation presented at the annual Society of Experimental Test Pilots West Coast Symposium. The award is determined by a panel of judges at the completion of the Symposium. The award, consisting of a trophy and cash honorarium, is presented at the Symposium’s Banquet.
Criteria
The technical presentations submitted for the Jack Northrop Award include only those presented to the Society during the West Coast Symposium. The recipient need not necessarily be a member of the Society but must have personally presented his/her presentation at the West Coast Symposium.
Selection
Nominations for the Jack Northrop Award are not accepted. Selection will be based on scientific or technical content, contribution to the Symposium theme (if applicable) and effectiveness of material. A panel of judges convened during the Symposium grades and subsequently votes on the winning presentation. Their voting determines the Jack Northrop Award winner. A sample of the grade sheet utilized by the judges is available HERE. Voting results are maintained secret until the award's announcement.
