The College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, invites applications for a teaching-track position in our Mechanical Engineering Department. The position is available in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Mechanical Engineering program offers three tracks where students can focus their studies: Energy, Propulsion, and Robotics. The department is particularly interested in candidates with industry experience in one of these specialties, and there is a specific need for candidates with a strong background in air-breathing or rocket propulsion. The mechanical engineering department’s primary focus areas include thermal-fluid sciences, engineering mechanics, material science, and dynamics and controls — all with an orientation toward applications in the aerospace and aviation industry.
The ME Department is home to 14 faculty members with a broad range of experience within industry, government, and academics. The department offers an inclusive, collegial, and highly collaborative faculty member environment, with far-reaching efforts in multidisciplinary challenges. The department is proud of its high-quality education programs and its nearly 100% placement rate in the industry or academic institutions. The department seeks candidates who can strengthen the department’s educational offerings through classroom instruction, laboratory courses, faculty mentored-student centered research, and extra-curricular programs.
Qualifications
- Candidates must hold an earned doctorate degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or closely related fields. Candidates with a master’s degree and substantial relevant professional experience are also encouraged to apply.
- The successful candidate shall have a strong interest and ability to teach undergraduate courses and laboratories. The ideal candidate will be willing to mentor and collaborate with students on research and student projects. Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communications skills, and a strong command of the English language are required.
