Critical Incident Response Committee (CIRC)

THIS WEBPAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION - MORE UPDATES WILL BE ADDED SOON!

The Society of Experimental Test Pilots is focused on the prevention of accidents and loss of life by improving safety, design and flight test of aerospace vehicles and their related systems.  SETP’s focus on what happened to the aircraft and our test pilots who fly them remains very clear.  SETP also recognizes the potential damage an aircraft accident can inflict on the SETP families and fellow testers left behind.

In 2013, SETP created the Critical Incident Response Committee (CIRC) to provide and coordinate, when possible, support for families and peer groups following flight test-related accidents.  SETP liaises with aviation industry professionals with extensive experience in post-accident grief counseling to provide basic certification for peer-to-peer coaching in the event of a critical incident.  CIRC has developed a growing network of personnel trained to provide peer-to-peer support for colleagues and for the families of Members injured or killed in aircraft accidents. The members of SETP's CIRC assist in identifying the needs of members' organizations and families, resources available to meet those needs, and coordinate efforts to provide these resources to the best of their ability.

SETP & Partners Estate and Financial Preparedness Guidebook & Checklists Formerly the Spouse and Partners Handbook

The Guidebooks and Checklists below are designed to help you put the basics in order for your family as you embark on your career as a test pilot and/or to keep your affairs in order as you move through life.

In 2010 and 2011, the SETP Partner's Committee was formed, followed in 2013 by the SETP Critical Incident Response Committee to address the needs of the test pilot community more broadly and extend care/help to the families.  We had a few years of unfortunate tragedies that touched our SETP community deeply, and the members engaged with the partners to determine the best ways SETP could help support efforts to ensure members were prepared. The purpose of both of these committees is not simply to prepare you for the worst but to prepare you for the best.
