JOB SUMMARY:
Conduct assigned flight testing and support Engineering with the development, certification, and entry into service of new or modified airplanes. Some travel required. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in technical discussions regarding the design of airplanes, systems and installed equipment to ensure that certification requirements and customer expectations are met.
- Participate in the definition, scheduling, and planning of flight tests for development and certification of products.
- Conduct flight testing for the purposes of developing products that meet customer expectations and demonstrating compliance to certification requirements.
- Report on the results of flight testing and coordinate with appropriate groups to resolve deficiencies in the product.
- Review and approve test plans, reports and other documents related to the conduct of flight testing.
- Provide management with ideas and input regarding continuous improvements to products and processes.
- Support other Textron Aviation Flight Departments as needed.
- Adhere to and support Flight Operations policies, procedures, guidelines and responsibilities.
- Communicate with and ensure department personnel are aware of noteworthy issues.
- Maintains safety as the prime consideration for all operations at all times.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in: Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or other technical degree
- FAA Commercial Single and Multi-engine rating required
- 2,500 hours total time required
- 500 hours multi-engine required
- 1000 PIC
- Minimum 5 years of engineering, flight test, pilot, or reflective technical experience required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to obtain a valid US Passport required
- Ability to support off-site travel to conduct development and certification flight testing
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- FAA First Class Medical required or ability to obtain First Class Medical
- Preferred candidates will have UM/DER FAA status, or are interested in achieving

Flight Test Pilot - Defense and Special Missions-313931
JOB SUMMARY:
The Flight Test Pilot will support Textron Aviation Defense and Special Mission Aircraft to provide flight test technical support for experimental aircraft and payload systems development. Responsible for conducting mission and weapons systems development, flight test and customer demonstration flights (as applicable) on the Scorpion, T-6, AT-6 and/or Special Mission aircraft. Significant travel required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in technical discussions regarding the design of airplanes, systems and installed equipment to ensure that certification requirements and customer expectations are met.
- Represents TA Defense & Special Missions professionally at trade shows, customer visits, and special events; follows up with appropriate RSD with any leads or customer comments.
- Assist in generation and review of potential SM IRAD development programs to maximize potential SM sales across all Textron Aviation product lines.
- Review with the Special Mission Product Marketing Manager of product brochures/briefing materials and marketing studies.
- Conduct flight testing for the purposes of developing products that meet customer expectations and demonstrating compliance to certification requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with U.S. and foreign government agencies, laboratories, range facilities, and project offices to advance rapid fielding opportunities.
- Report on the results of flight testing and coordinate with appropriate groups to resolve deficiencies in the product.
- Act as aircrew for engineering flight testing and demonstration of TA Defense & SM aircraft
- Review and approve test plans, reports and other documents related to the conduct of flight testing.
- Adhere to and support Flight Operations policies, procedures, guidelines and responsibilities.
- Maintain safety as the prime consideration for all operations at all times.
- Travel to off-site facilities for aircraft delivery, flight test and program support activities
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physical Science or Aviation-Related area
- FAA Commercial Multi-engine rating required
- 2,500 hours total time required
- 500 hours multi-engine required
- 1000 PIC
- Minimum 5 years of engineering, flight test, pilot, or reflective technical experience required.
- Experience with managing programs and flight operations for military and special mission aircraft customers preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to obtain a valid US Passport required
- Ability to support off-site travel for customer support and deliveries
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- FAA First Class Medical required or ability to obtain First Class Medical
- Flight experience in development, test and evaluation of military and/or special mission aircraft
- General knowledge of airborne use of military sensor systems (RADAR, FLIR, etc.)
- Experience communicating to military and government organizations
