Director of Engineering - DeltaHawk Engines Inc.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of DeltaHawk’s President, the Director of Engineering will lead an engineering team that focuses on integrating new products into DeltaHawk’s certification, production, and manufacturing processes. This leader will plan and direct all production level engineering activities including certifying new product lines, supporting production, maintenance of existing product lines, cost reduction initiatives, and customer support. This individual will work closely with DH’s Leadership team to ensure that our engine families and aircraft products achieve FAA certification. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, design finalization, product management, certification testing, customer support, field product failure analysis and resolution, and cost reduction programs.

This leader will effectively hire, train, and lead people, communicate clearly, set expectations, provide feedback, and resolve conflicts when they arise. They also need to be able to lead by example—their own performance needs to be consistent with the standards they’re setting for their team members and be consistent with DeltaHawk’s Corporate Culture statement and values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Plan and direct all aspects of production engineering activities and projects
Work closely with DeltaHawk’s leadership team to assure products can be certified and are production-ready
Ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with established policies and objectives
Utilize best practice engineering methods and provide expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives
Develop major goals to support broad functional objectives
Incorporate components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output
Manage overall production engineering budget and costs
Understand FAA processes and certify new product lines including engine (14 CFR Part 33) and aircraft installations (14 CFR Part 23)

Qualifications
Required

A Bachelor's degree from accredited school in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and 5+ years of appropriate engine engineering experience and 5+ years of leading a team OR equivalent years of experience
Serve as a technical resource on areas of expertise and provide consultation / mentorship to others
Communicate cross-functionally and think critically and convey thoughts effectively

Preferred

Aviation enthusiast
Member of SAE or other appropriate organization
Working knowledge of FAA certification regulations (Part 23 and 33)
Experience developing aircraft engines and/or systems

Working Conditions

This position is a professional engineering position, yet combined with occasional “hands-on”, assisting technicians working through challenges on the engine(s).
