Flight Test Operation.(FTO) is divided between Edwards Air Force Base (EAFB) and Victorville, CA at the Southern California Logistic Airport - (SCLA). The two sites are about 60 miles apart. EAFB is about 115 miles north of Los Angeles, CA. and Victorville is approximately 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles, CA. Our primary mission is development engine testing at Victorville (SCLA) and support military flight testing at Edwards Air Force Base.

Role Summary/Purpose
The Engineering Test Pilot will be responsible for executing and carrying out in-flight performance testing of GE's new centerline engines in order to meet assigned flying test bed objectives. In addition, you will be Senior Engineer Controlled Title Holder responsible for analyzing technology and client needs, developing new technology and realizing innovative products.
Essential Responsibilities
In addition you will :
  •   Be responsible for piloting, co-piloting or serving as flight engineer on both of GE's Propulsion Test
    Platforms (B747-100 & B747-400)
  •   Work within defined parameters to make decisions and apply concepts to issues of moderate to major complexity
  •   Resolve issues though immediate action or short-term planning.
  •   Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Hard Science discipline from an accredited college or university
  •   Minimum of 5 years of experience as a developmental engineering test pilot (excludes post heavy maintenance test, production test, systems test, ferry flights)
  •   Minimum of 2,000 hours jet pilot in command (PIC) time
  •   Airline Transport Pilot Certificate for Airplane Multi-engine Land (no restrictions) or ability and willingness to acquire one
  •   FAA First Class Medical Certificate or ability and willingness to acquire one
  •   Ability to successfully obtain Type Certificate for B747-100 & B747-400
Desired Characteristics
  •   Minimum of 5,000 hours total time (can waive to 2,500 total hours if coming from a tactical military background)
  •   Master’s Degree in Engineering or Hard Science discipline from an accredited university or college
  •   Graduate of recognized Military or Civilian Test Pilot School
  •   FAR 121 Carrier experience flying international and domestic route structures
  •   Experience in Heavy Transport Category Aircraft
  •   B747 and / or B744 Type rating
  •   747 piloting experience
  •   Flight Engineer Turbojet rating
  •   FAA Flight Instructor ratings (CFI, CFII, MEI)
  •   FAA Airframe and Power plant license
  •   Strong oral and written communication skills
  •   Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  •   Strong oral and written communication skills
  •   Strong technical and analytical abilities
  •   English Proficient
