Job Description

Assist in the development of weapon system roadmaps, technology upgrades, and capability insertion. Assist in development and evaluation of sensors, weapons, controls and displays, flight control, and mission system software and hardware. Execute test missions in high performance tactical aircraft evaluating mission systems, weapons integration and flight sciences objectives. Operate testbed aircraft supporting the flight testing of test articles and payloads. Evaluate and accept production aircraft on first-time flights. Provide mature leadership and guidance to team of aircrew and engineers in support of the test programs.

Future capability working groups, PVI development and assessment, requirements development, subject matter expert on all performance aspects of the aircraft design, subject matter expert on mission system capabilities and operation, subject matter expert for flight test
activities to include operating limitations development, safety planning, flight test planning, test card development, test execution and reporting.

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification:

Level 4: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

The following are required for this position. FAA commercial pilot's certificate (ME Land, Instrument Airplane). Current FAA Class II medical certificate. 1,500 hours first-pilot time in tactical fighter/trainer aircraft to include 100 hours as first pilot during experimental, engineering, operational and/or acceptance flight tests.  Military Flight Test experience is mandatory. 

The following are preferred skills. Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School.  Operational Test experience in F-15A/C/E, F-22 and/or F-18E/F/G.  Current or former qualification in F-15E or in F-18E/F/G.  Current or former Instructor Pilot rating in F-15E or F-18E/F/G or derivative.  Experience in mission systems and/or electronic warfare systems testing. Able to communicate complex flight test concepts and ideas in written form and/or orally.

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)  

Additional Information: This job requires travel to test locations and rotational staffing of test team organizations.  Some travel longer than 30 days may be required based on test tempo and phase of testing.  Foreign travel may be required.  Must be able to pass a pre-placement medical examination equivalent to an FAA Class II medical examination prior to employment.  Must pass a yearly FAA Class II medical examination as a condition of employment.
